In the comments of a recent MeFi post about One Man’s Wilderness—the excellent account of Dick Proenneke and his experiences living off the land in Alaska—we find a PDF version of More Readings From One Man’s Wilderness: The Journals of Richard L. Proenneke, 1974-1980. I can’t wait to read this.

  1. Where if I may ask did you find this photo? There are so many photos of Dick but this one is my new favorite! It speaks a lot of who he was and the world around him a truly phenomenal man of our times. Are there others like this maybe in a book? Please if you could tell me anything I’d really be grateful, I am such a great admirer have been for years…Oh and the journals look great! I can’t wait to read them either!!

  2. Yeah, Dick is quite the inspiration. The photo can be found on page 227 of the linked journals and there are a number of other interesting photos as well.
